        Abstract

In  this  paper,  the  relationship  among  various  actors  of  local  development  who intervened through coordinated and systematic strategies was identified. These actions included coordination and integration mechanisms to guarantee effective performance of the municipalities studied. Two municipalities of Ciego de Ávila province, Cuba, were analyzed,   based  on  their   integration   and   coordination   of   entities,   subsidiaries, institutions, and organizations, in order to achieve common goals, with special emphasis on the horizontal plane. The recognition of local actors and their interactions facilitated the utilization of coordinating and integrating mechanisms for knowledge management and innovation in local sustainable development, along with the inclusion of potentialities and satisfaction of needs.
