Abstract

The aim of this work is to conduct a preliminary economic and financial evaluation, of a technology to reduce sulfur dioxide in the flue gases at levels greater than 98%, in electric power plant that consume Cuban crude oil, with high sulfur content, with a view to reducing costs maintenance and economic losses associated with the unavailability of the units, and atmospheric impacts. The costs an analysis of the main economic and financial issues associated with the technologies of the world is made; and an assessment of the positive and negative aspects of a technology proposed conditions of consumption of Cuban crude oil, taking into account the uncertainty in key operating parameters (electric power generation, conversion lime and removal sulfur dioxide). From the use of mathematical simulation, dynamic key indicators for investment ranges es- tablished technical parameters of operation are determined. The results show favorable levels of the Net Present Value, the Internal Rate of Return and Payback Period of the Investment.
