Abstract

In  this  paper,  several  approaches  to  deal  with  the  relation  between  touristic development and risk management within the context of climate change, are suggested. This study was made possible thanks to various techniques applied, such as, research analysis, interviews, and bibliographic and documentary reviews. The arguments provided in this paper might facilitate the analysis of key elements, and favor the two aspects, in order to fight the impacts of climate change and help introduce new approaches of sustainable tourism based on production and consumption. The underlying purposes were to  invigorate  the  local economy, and  implement a more coherent policy for use and preservation of natural resources and the environment. To conclude, tourism generates benefits, but when treated inapropriately, it can disturb the environment, creating potential hazards and new vulnerabilities (or outspreading the existing ones), or leading to risks. Awareness of the above must encourage the tourist sector to take actions that contribute to risk management in terms of climate change response.
