The Municipal University Council and its Role in Managing Knowledge for Local Development

Abstract

A strategy based on scientific management was worked out by an integrated diagnosis process. The objective to be accomplished was knowledge management. Documents assessment technique was applied. Results showed an increase in undergraduates registered from the 2002-2003 academic course up to the present date, as well as the qualification of over 1 600 graduates by postgraduate courses. Scientific outcome had a significant impact upon local economy. Therefore, the university council and the local government have jointly worked in managing knowledge for the local development of Placetas municipality in Villa Clara province.
