Abstract

A procedure is proposed to improve the process of tourism planning in Cuba, based on a new approach that allows the articulation of a physical-spatial plan with the development plan from those territories with tourist potential, through a systemic process that leads to the formulation of an integrated tourism development plan and can be inserted into municipal development strategies. First, it is taken into consideration the functional complexity of spaces for tourism; then, the main features of different instruments for planning are outlined, and the need for their integration; experiences of articulation between touristic planning and territorial planning and finally, it is presented a methodological proposal for articulating physical spatial regulation plansand t ourism development for Cuba’s localities.
