Abstract

The article analyzes and assesses the behavior of the competitiveness factors in the province of Villa Clara, Cuba, sustaining the analysis through the methodology of Porter’s Diamond (1990), the experts’ method and the study of the theoretical-conceptual foundations of competitiveness. The discussion of the results showed the existence of economic, political and social factors that require management in order to contribute with the increased competitiveness in the province by means of projects development, mainly in productive sectors, and more particularly in traditional products such as the sugar industry and its recovery.   Another   sector   that   also    contributes   to   the   increase   of competitiveness in the province is the tourism sector -focusing on the territory its multiplier effect, which is directed to enhance linkage with the remaining fields and sectors of economy- and strengthening local production.
