Abstract

This study was conducted in agricultural entities from the Strategy Base Unit (UEB) Farmer Assistance affiliated to the Sugarcane Industry “Paquito Rosales” in Santiago de Cuba province. Technical-economic plans from these entities lacked a sound alternative assessment on production-possibilities variants to better evaluate the optimal course of action to be taken at short and mean terms. Therefore, a development variant prioritizing the established goals was determined using economic and mathematical models. To this end, a goal-oriented programming in mixed binary integers based on agricultural entities priorities was implemented to characterize, diagnose, formulate, state, and solve the mathematical model by means of WINQSB professional package. Multiple linear regression analysis techniques and Box-Jenk ins methodology for ARIMA model were applied to build in an informative basis for the mathematical model. Results indicated 7,46 % and 5,2 % increments in sugarcane and multiple crop efficiency, respectively. Findings also suggested an improvement in labor organization, an upgrading in planners’ scientific knowledge, a higher environment protection, and a crop yield increase due to better cultivation practice policies.
