Abstract

The public policies to develop sustainable tourism in the municipalities of Holguin (Cuba)
and Puebla (Mexico) were evaluated. The methods used were comparison and qualitative comparative analysis, with data collected from case studies. The findings revealed the similarities in terms of policy structure in Holguin and Puebla, though differences were also observed, particularly due to their contrasting social development.
The main research limitations were related to the type of study and the size of the samples collected. The singularity of this research lies in the fact that comparative studies were performed between two countries that encourage research result integration concerning public policies for sustainable tourism, and then optimize them to
produce better results in the area.
