A Methodological Procedure for Local-Scale Environmental City Planning Management

This methodological proposal promotes environmental urban planning in local neighborhoods, as master city planning schemes do not reach smaller local areas. That way, the major issues affecting cities may be broken down into sets of problems, with smaller-scale localization, so they can be identified and addressed by the community. Theoretical and empirical research methods were used in this study. Several specialists and community residents were surveyed, and new indicators that characterize the environmental situation were identified. The contribution of this research rests on a proposal of methodological elements with a number of indicators that can be used to offer a more objective characterization of the problems addressed, and to design action plans for environmental improvement of locally administered areas. The results of the research can be used as reference to make partial plans with a greater definition for locally administered areas.
