Integrated Management of Social and Community Development for a Municipality Local Development

The goal of this research focuses on social and community development management within a general strategy concerning local development in Florida municipality, Camagüey province, Cuba. A concept on local development management adapted to Cuban society demands in the above mentioned fields was applied. To this end, a procedure was implemented to identify the coordination elements to be incorporated by the organizational structures of local administration and government to achieve the integration of administrative and political dimensions. Such an integration can improve community work effectiveness through an increasing support from the local administration and enhance horizontal articulation of different sectors in the performance of actions by the organisms so articulated according to the territory problems and, hence, find a solution to contradictions that many arise. Practical application of the research through joint programs and projects showed a greater local residents’ satisfaction evidenced by community work improvement and results. Further implementation of findings is needed in other developmental dimensions.
