General Notions of Local Competitiveness Studies for Development Planning

Abstract

The aim of this article was to evaluate local competitiveness studies and related methodological approaches. In that sense, systematic and contextualized evaluation ensured the determination of the essential theoretical, conceptual, and methodological elements needed for measuring local competitiveness. The requirement of evaluation as an important input element to plan local development was also highlighted. The general considerations submitted in this study are part of the author’s PhD. thesis, whose results have been implemented in the province of Holguin, Cuba.
