Industrial Production Planning Assisted by Information Technology Using a Comprehensive Approach

Abstract

A computer application was presented to help students and specialists during the planning, programing, and control stages of production in companies with diversified production and broad-based nomenclature. This research provides practical and methodological responses to planning teaching and application in the Cuban entrepreneurial and educational environments. The data required by the software include technological road mapping of goods, cost sheets, necessary resources, and availability during the period. It uses balance sheets for planning and regulatory methods, and a variant of general algorithm to calculate production capacities. Mathematical modeling is also used to achieve optimum values of the variables associated to good manufacturing and the limiting resources. The feasibility of dealing with several scenarios, makes possible to choose the best alternative, according to the behavior of the related indicators to different categories of the plan, based on the methodological guidelines laid out by the Ministry of Economy and Planning. This application has been validated in real and virtual company environments, and in the teaching process, respectively. Ostensible improvements have been accomplished in the practical and methodological solutions to the problem studied.
