Abstract

This study focuses on a project carried out by the municipal university affiliated school (SUM) from Yaguajay municipality, Sancti Spiritus province, Cuba as an attempt to achieve the task proposed by the Subsidiary Program on Science and Technological Innovation, Knowledge and Innovation Management for Development through the University. The objective of the project was to contribute to the municipality social, economic, and cultural development by means of university management potentiating knowledge, science, technology, and innovation. A balance of the project comprising a two-year period of achievements and failures is presented. The impact of workshops, seminars, community scientific events, assistance to local organizations, instruction an training to leaders and university graduates positively influenced the municipality development. Therefore, the articulation between the municipal university affiliated school and local development is a must to turn projects management, joint work, and interchange with national and foreign universities and research institutions into attainable goals.
